Heather Heffernan, LMT

Licensed Massage Therapist (she/her)

About Me

"E Komo Mai" — the Hawaiian word for welcome — is a heartfelt invitation to enter a space, feel a sense of belonging, and reconnect with yourself, others, and the world around you.

Born in Hawai‘i and raised mostly in Nebraska, I carry both the ocean’s calm and the prairie’s grounding energy, with a touch of the Colorado Rockies where I’ve also spent much of my life. My path has always been guided by nature, curiosity, and a deep love of travel, people, and the beauty that connects us all.

My lifelong passion for holistic health, wellness, and the mind–body–soul connection continues to shape everything I do. I’m dedicated to bringing healing touch, awareness, and compassion to each person I meet, helping them find harmony within themselves and their surroundings.

My Approach to Therapy

I view massage and bodywork as a partnership — a way to help clients reconnect with their bodies, calm their minds, and restore their natural balance. My approach is intuitive, trauma-informed, and deeply rooted in respect for the human experience. Each session is tailored to meet your unique needs, blending techniques that support physical, emotional, and energetic wellness.

Modalities offered include: Swedish, Therapeutic Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, Thai, SARGA Barefoot Massage (renowned for its effective myofascial release), and traditional Hawaiian Lomilomi from the Mana Lomi lineage. Enhancements such as cupping therapy, hot stones, and gua sha are also available.

What I Can Help With

I work with individuals of all ages, body types, and walks of life — from those seeking deep relaxation and reconnection to those experiencing physical pain, injury recovery, pregnancy and postpartum changes, athletic tension, or trauma-related conditions. My approach emphasizes safety, compassion, and empowerment within a trauma-informed care model.

Populations I Work With

If you have a body and a desire for healing, connection, or simply a safe place to breathe — I would be honored to work with you. My practice welcomes all with empathy, respect, and open-hearted aloha.

A Bit More About Me

I’m endlessly inspired by tiny islands and wide open spaces, vegan cooking, gardening, yoga, surfing, kayaking, hiking, dancing, and traveling. My favorite title will always be Mom to my two incredible young adult children, and I cherish time spent with my lively siblings and extended family.

The spirit of aloha — the deep love that lives within each of us — and ohana — the circle of care that binds us — are the guiding forces in my life and work. Through body and energy work, I hope to share this love and connection with others. I believe that when we act from love, we open the door to peace, harmony, and healing — both within ourselves and with each other.

Massage Modalities

Lomi Lomi

Rooted in the ancient Hawaiian wisdom of Lomi Lomi, this practice honors the deep connection between body, mind, and spirit. Lomi Lomi is more than massage—it’s a sacred healing art that moves energy, or mana, throughout the body to restore harmony and flow.

Mana Lomi® draws on traditional Hawaiian healing principles to address both physical and energetic imbalances. It is a precise, therapeutic, and deeply intuitive style of bodywork that helps prevent and resolve injuries, release tension, and promote profound relaxation and embodiment.

This work reaches beyond the muscles, touching the bones—where ancestral memory and emotional patterns are believed to be stored. By “communicating down to the bones,” the practitioner connects with the body’s innate wisdom, allowing healing to unfold at a soul level.

While I am not a traditional Lomi Lomi practitioner, the philosophy and spirit of this ancient healing art inform all of my bodywork and energy practices. Each session is guided by intention, intuition, and respect for the body’s natural intelligence.

Sarga Bodywork

Blending the ancient art of barefoot massage with modern fascia science, SARGA BODYWORK® uses a unique system of fabric straps secured to the massage table to help practitioners deliver slow, precise, and deeply effective myofascial and deep tissue techniques—using their feet.

Unlike traditional deep tissue work, Sarga emphasizes myofascial technique: slow, sustained, oblique, and high-tack movements designed to stimulate a stretch response within the fascia that surrounds and supports muscle tissue. This approach promotes length, hydration, mobility, and detoxification within the body’s connective tissues, helping restore balance and ease.

The word Sarga holds meaning in both Spanish and Sanskrit. In Spanish, it refers to a tapestry woven from many threads—a perfect symbol for this practice, which artfully blends bodywork traditions from around the world into one cohesive, evolving technique. In Sanskrit, Sarga signifies creation or the act of bringing energy into form—a fitting reflection of the grounded, transformative nature of this work.

Swedish

A classic and timeless form of bodywork, Swedish Massage uses smooth, flowing strokes to relax the body, ease tension, and improve circulation. This gentle yet effective technique supports the nervous system, encourages detoxification, and helps melt away stress—leaving you feeling refreshed, balanced, and deeply restored.

Each session is customized to your comfort and desired pressure, making it an ideal choice for relaxation, recovery, or simply reconnecting with your body.

Therapeutic

Therapeutic Massage is a customized, results-oriented session designed to address specific areas of tension, pain, or dysfunction within the body. Drawing from a range of techniques—including deep tissue, myofascial, and neuromuscular work—this treatment focuses on improving mobility, reducing discomfort, and supporting the body’s natural healing processes.

Each session is guided by your individual needs and goals, whether you’re recovering from injury, managing chronic pain, or seeking greater balance and body awareness. The result is a treatment that not only relieves tension but also restores function, alignment, and overall well-being.

Trigger Point

Trigger Point Massage targets specific areas of tension, knots, or “trigger points” within the muscles that can refer pain to other parts of the body. Using focused pressure and precise techniques, this massage releases muscle tightness, improves circulation, and restores proper movement patterns.

This work is ideal for relieving chronic pain, reducing tension from repetitive stress, and supporting overall muscular health, leaving you feeling more aligned, relaxed, and functional.

Thai

Thai Massage is a dynamic and deeply restorative practice that combines gentle stretching, rhythmic compression, and guided movement to enhance flexibility, release tension, and balance energy throughout the body. Often described as “assisted yoga,” this modality works along the body’s energy lines to improve circulation, ease stiffness, and promote overall vitality.
